How we protect your lease
Last reviewed October 31, 2026
Your lease holds some of the most sensitive numbers in your business: your rent, your terms, your deadlines. Here is what we do to keep it private.
Your lease stays in Canada
Your lease text and reports are stored in a Canadian data centre.
We keep the text, not the file
We read your lease once to pull out its text, and keep only that text. If you choose to upload an operating cost statement, the file sits in private storage that only your account can open.
No passwords to steal
You sign in with a one-time code or link sent to your email. We don't keep a password database, so there isn't one to leak.
We never see your card
Paddle, our payment provider, handles every payment. Your card number never reaches Renewal Option.
Only you can open your leases
Each lease is locked to your account inside the database itself. Another user can't open it, even with the link.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Your connection to the site is encrypted, and so is the data we store.
Deleting is real
Deleting a lease removes its text, your answers, the analysis and any statements you added. We keep only a record of what you paid, for seven years, as tax law requires.
Previews don't linger
A preview without an account is deleted after 7 days, and free previews are protected against automated abuse.
Watched around the clock
We're alerted automatically if the site stops responding or something fails on our servers. Those alerts never include your documents or your email address.
Backed up, and the backup tested
Data is backed up daily, and we have restored a backup to confirm it works.
Kept up to date
We keep the site's software current and check for new security fixes every month. Changes are tested away from customer data before they reach the live site.
Checked every month
We review the site's security every month and update this page when anything changes.
